MICHAEL CROSSON (my Great-Great-Great-Grandfather)

Birth: Dec 1822, Tipperary, IRELAND

Marriage: Rebecca Honour Wilson (1832-1899) on 27 Jan 1853, New Egypt, Ocean, New Jersey, USA.

Children:

  1. John Alfred Crosson (1854-1878)
  2. Owen Crosson (1856-1875)
  3. Michael Crosson (1858-1941)
  4. Catharine Ann “Kate” Crosson (1860-1919)

  7. Rebecca W. Crosson (1867-1931)
  8. George W. Crosson (1869-1955)
  9. Elizabeth M. “Lizzie” Crosson (1871-1962)
  10. Joseph Crosson (1875-?)

Michael Crosson was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in December 1822 (or 1829).

On October 1, 1850, he departed out of Liverpool, England on board the ship Jacob A. Westervelt and arrived in New York City, New York, USA on October 9, 1850 (Source: Irish Immigrants: New York Port Arrival Records, 1846-1851).

In a letter from Alice Bernard Crosson (ABC) to George Leon Crosson Jr. (GLCJr) dated in the 1970’s, ABC states that Michael was born in Tipperary, Ireland about 1825 and came to this country at age 17, about 1842.

Michael Crosson married Rebecca Honour Wilson on January 27, 1853 in New Egypt, Ocean County, New Jersey. I have no documentation to support this date; it must have been from a family bible. However, I have reason to believe it is accurate because their first child was born in 1854.

Michael Crosson died on January 5, 1903 in New Egypt, Ocean County, New Jersey. He was buried on January 8, 1903 at the Church of the Assumption, New Egypt, Ocean, County, New Jersey.
